A man has been formally accused with attempted murder in connection with the attack that wounded New York Jets football athlete Kris Boyd.
Suspect Named and Taken Into Custody
The individual charged is a man from the Bronx, age 20. Authorities arrested him on Monday, facing multiple serious charges.
Circumstances of the November Incident
The violent incident happened in the early hours of 16 November, outside a busy New York City restaurant. Law enforcement described the event as a dispute with a group of strangers.
Boyd, age 29, was with teammates and a friend in a central part of New York City when the taunting escalated.
The situation turned into a physical confrontation, during which it is alleged Green shot the athlete two times in the torso.
Severe Wounds and Hospitalization
The bullet pierced Boyd's pulmonary organ and lodged in his pulmonary artery. He was transported to the hospital in serious condition but was subsequently sent home.
Sources state he has met with his fellow players at a Jets practice facility.
Investigation and Arrest in Buffalo
Surveillance video from the area allegedly captured Green running away and entering a car operated by someone else.
Police took into custody Green on 8 December in Buffalo, where he was found at his partner's residence.
A official announcement stated that "a suspect" had been taken into custody.
When law enforcement surrounded the apartment complex, the individual was seen "looking out the apartment window searching for an way out but went back in after noticing the authorities," the report added.
The situation ended soon after, when the suspect left the residence with his hands in the air.
The suspect had "modified his appearance probably to not be recognized," law enforcement commented.
Boyd's Career Background
Before joining the Jets this season, Boyd was a member of the Arizona Cardinals over several seasons in the league.
The defensive player had been on injured reserve for the Jets after suffering a injury to his shoulder during team practice in August.
