Carlos Alcaraz claimed all six major titles guided by his coach's tutelage, his latest coming at this year's US Open.
Six-times major champion Carlos Alcaraz has split with his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero in a surprising development.
Alcaraz, 22, has collaborated with his fellow Spaniard since he was a youth, but revealed on Wednesday that the duo have "mutually agreed to go separate paths" ahead of the upcoming season.
No explanation has been offered by Alcaraz or Ferrero has provided a reason for the separation.
World number one Alcaraz has yet to indicated if he plans to find a successor for Ferrero.
"I am grateful for making childhood dreams into realities," Alcaraz remarked in a announcement.
"Our journey began this path when I was very young, and throughout all this time you've been by my side on an incredible journey, both on and off the court.
"I've enjoyed each moment of it so much with you."
The 45-year-old Ferrero, is a one-time world number one. He developed Alcaraz's potential at his academy near Murcia before leading him to each of his six major championship titles.
